Bollywood big wig Salman Khan has been in the news lately after receiving multiple death threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his associates. This has prompted the Bollywood star, who is known to be a petrol head, to make a new purchase. The Mumbai based actor is said to have bought a bullet proof, fully decked out Nissan Patrol to make sure that he is well protected when he heads out for his many professional and personal engagements.
The Nissan Patrol is the world renowned Japanese automotive manufacturer’s flagship SUV and has been in production since 1951. The SUV is a legend in the automotive industry although it is not available for sale in the Indian market. Not only is it recognized as one of the finest vehicles to tackle all sorts of challenging terrains but has also been dubbed by many experts as the best option for security modifications due to its body on frame structure making it a tough cookie to crack. The latest model, said to have been brought to Salman Khan’s stable, has been in production since 2010, a testament to its efficacy even today. The car was given an aesthetic update in 2019 to revamp and modernize its front end, but other than that, the behemoth of an SUV stays true to its roots.
The car comes with 5.6 ltr, naturally aspirated v8 engine which makes 405hp and 560Nm of torque making it quite unstoppable when it starts rolling. A 7-speed gear box linked to the engine helps deliver the power in a crisp and concise manner and the car comes with 4-wheel drive as standard. With 3 rows of seats, a fully updated infotainment system and a luxurious cabin, the SUV doesn’t skimp on comfort either.
Considering this purchase and the cars the Bollywood icon already has at his disposal, it would be safe to say that the man knows a thing or two about cars. He also owns a 1.9 crore Range Rover autobiography and an Audi RS7 which he acquired when he launched the model as Audi India’s brand ambassador. His tastes are not limited to cars though as he is known to enjoy motorcycles as well. Most notably, he owns a Suzuki Hayabusa, once the fastest production bike in the world, as well as the Suzuki Intruder, the power cruiser supremo. His affinity for Japanese vehicles is apparent in the fact that he is also the brand ambassador of Suzuki in India.
