Bollywood veteran actor Salman Khan turned 27 on December 27 and threw a massive star-studded birthday party at his sister Arpita's residence. Why Sangeeta Bijlani broke up with Salman Khan?
Salman Khan-Sangeeta Bijlani's relationship dates long back. In 1987, 'young' Salman Khan fell in love with Sangeeta Bijlani who made her Bollywood debut with Qatil, opposite Aditya Pancholi. Salman and Sangeeta were in a serious relationship for almost 10 years and were a great support of each other. In fact, the couple had decided to marry and even finalized May 27, 1994, as their marriage date. However, before their marriage, Salman Khan was caught red-handed by Sangeeta. As per reports, Salman Khan was cheating on Sangeeta Bijlani.
Notably, Salman even confessed it was true when he showed up on Koffee with Karan. When Karan asked if the wedding was off as she caught him, the actor tried to sidestep the question before accepting, "Yeah, kind of." He added that “I get caught. I’m stupid.” He then changed his tune and said, “What are you talking about?”
As per reports, Salman was dating actor Somy Ali at the same time while he was in a serious relationship with Sangeeta. This led Bijlani to call off the wedding and break up with Salman.

In Koffee with Karan episode, Salman had shared the seriousness of his relationship. "There was a time I really wanted to get married and then it just didn't work out. I have always come so close [to getting married]. People have got cold feet. 'Theek hai, boyfriend, isko zindagi bhar jhelna padega kya' (They think I am a good boyfriend, but it's difficult to tolerate me for the rest of their lives). With Sangeeta, even the cards were printed," Salman said.

Sangeeta eventually married cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin and quit Bollywood. Now, she and Salman remain on cordial terms. Sangeeta in one of her interviews also shared about her connection with Salman and said, "Connections don’t break. Connections never go away. The love between your partners, school friends never go away. People will come and go. Nobody will be permanent in life. That does not mean you feel bitter or angry. At one point, you evolve."
