Producer Salman Khan has asked Navjot Singh Sidhu to step down from The Kapil Sharma Show but the final decision is still on hold, says a report. Sidhu's comments on Pulwama terror attack landed him in controversy and the Punjab minister and popular television personality has received severe criticism from all quarters.
#BoycottKapilSharmaShow started trending soon after Kapil Sharma comments on sacking Sidhu from the show. Kapil had spoken about the controversy at an Art of Living event on Monday. "These are very small things, or can also be a part of propaganda. I feel banning someone or sacking Navjot Singh Sidhu from the show (The Kapil Sharma Show) is not the solution. We need to look for a permanent solution", he told the reporters.
However, the latest report claim that although Salman called up Sidhu and asked for his resignation as he didn't want the ratings of the show to be affected for the sake of one person. He has decided to put the final decision on Sidhu's exit on hold as he's waiting for things to cool down. However, Sidhu will not be shooting a few episodes. "When this entire controversy happened; the channel was still not sure on what decision to make. It was the producer of the show, Salman Khan immediate decision to ask Sidhu to step down from the show. Obviously, as a producer, Salman did not want to take a chance especially when so much money has been involved in its production. The show is doing well in terms of TRP and Salman doesn’t want to lose it just for the sake of one person. And so, he decided to take a call immediately”, a source in knowledge about the matter. At this moment, all Salman has advised the channel is to let the matter cool down before they announce their final verdict. Obviously, Sidhu won’t be shooting for the few upcoming episodes. However, there might be chances of him returning back. All thanks to Kapil Sharma and Salman Khan, said another source.
Earlier, Sidhu has posed a controversial comment on Pulwama. "For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished", Sidhu was quoted as saying.
