In a bizarre incident in Punjab's Jalandhar, a Sambar deer stormed into the ESIC hospital of the city causing panic among the people on Monday. The forest department was immediately contacted, however, the animal succumbed to its injuries during the rescue operation.
On Monday, a strayed Sambar deer ran into the hospital wreaking havoc and endangering the lives of patients, medical staff and others present in the facility. As people started shouting
and running into any ward to prevent harm, the animal got petrified and crashed into a wall of the hospital.
Meanwhile, the forest department rushed into the scene and started a rescue operation. The rescue team took at least three hours to get a hold of the sambar. However, the animal was badly
injured as it collided multiple times with the wall in order to escape the hospital premises.

According to forest officials, a postmortem will be performed on the Sambar to know the cause of death, after which it will be buried.
The hospital staff said that Sambar had entered the hospital premises late Sunday night. The forest department was informed around 8 am in morning after which a rescue team reached the hospital.
This is not the first time that a strayed animal has entered the city and caused panic among people.
Last year a Sambar had strayed into the city area. After around two hours of struggle, the animal was rescued by a forest department team and then was released into the forest near Chauhal Dam.
