Samyukta Kisan Morcha- an umbrella organization of the farmers protesting at borders around Delhi against the contentious farm laws prepared by the union government, organized a meeting today of its general body which was presided over by Inderjit Singh.
However, it needs to be noted that the major announcements related to the third phase of the Delhi morcha would be announced after the meeting of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha on February 28.
The following important decisions were taken in the meeting held yesterday to strengthen the farmers' protest or Delhi Morcha:
1. 'Pagri Sambhal Divas' will be celebrated on 23rd February, this day will be celebrated in the memory of Uncle Ajit Singh and Swami Sahajanand. On this day, farmers will wear their regional turbans to show their pride.
2. February 24 was declared as 'Anti-Repression Day' in which all-out repression of the peasant movement would be protested. Memorandums will be handed over to the President on this day at all tehsils and district headquarters.
3. On February 26, three months of the Delhi Morcha will be completed, the contribution of the youth will be honored as 'Youth Farmers' Day '.
4. "Mazdoor Kisan Ekta Divas" will be celebrated on January 27 on the day of Guru Ravidas Jayanti and Shaheed Chandra Shekhar Azad's martyrdom. SKM has urged all the people of the country to come to Delhi morcha and strengthen the front.
Yavatmal: In Maharashtra, farmer leaders of the morcha as well as local leaders were taken into police custody and later released on bail. The SKM strongly condemn these alleged attempts of the government to harass the leaders of the peasant movement.
Datar Singh, a farmer leader from Punjab affiliated to the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, died at Amritsar. His death is very sad. Samyukta Kisan Morcha has also saluted the contribution of the departed soul of the peasant movement.
