After shivering people to their core, Punjab winters seem to easing up. Most of the cities in Punjab are witnessing warmer days but the nighttime temperature is still reminding people that winter is not over. For the past few days, Punjab has witnessed higher daytime temperatures but at the night, the temperature is falling below 10 degrees Celsius in multiple districts. In fact, on January 20, 2025, the Meteorological Department at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana confirmed that the city's maximum temperature is also hovering around 22°C, 2-3°C higher than usual. The weather department further stated that this unusual temperature marks the highest recorded minimum temperature in January since 1973, indicating milder winter conditions compared to previous years.

As per the Apple Weather App, Jalandhar's daytime temperature will soar up to 22°C on January 25, 2025, while its night-time temperature will touch 6°C. Even on Sunday, Jalandhar's maximum temperature is likely to touch 22°C but its minimum temperature may touch 4°C. A similar pattern will be witnessed in the upcoming days. Ludhiana too is expected to register a maximum temperature of 22°C and a minimum temperature of 6°C. Just like Jalandhar, Ludhiana will also witness similar kinds of warm and cool temperatures.

Why is Punjab & North India experiencing warmer days?

As per reports, the current mild weather in Delhi-NCR and the Indo-Gangetic plains is due to western disturbances blocking the flow of cold northwesterly winds. This has led to warmer temperatures. However, the hills have received encouraging snowfall this winter, which will replenish glaciers, improve water systems, and benefit agricultural crops like apples. After January 25, another cold wave will sweep across the Indo-Gangetic plains, bringing back the chill and setting the stage for a classic winter experience. However, January 25 is already here and the forecast looks similar in the upcoming days. It means the winter may make a comeback but not in 1 week.
