The Supreme Court has accepted the petition filed by parents associations from eight states including Uttarakhand demanding that the schools not be allowed to collect fees during the lockdown period.
These associations have moved to the Supreme Court seeking its intervention on the autocratic behavior of the private schools and the problem faced by the parents during the lockdown period.
The parents of Uttarakhand are unhappy with the decision of the High Court permitting schools to charge fees for online classes and any other activities conducted via online medium. Arif Khan, president of the National Association for Parents and Students Rights (NAPSR) said the association is not happy with the judgement by the Uttarakhand High Court and decided to file a joint petition along with other associations of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Odisha, Maharashtra and Delhi in the Supreme Court.

Khan demanded that a regulatory body be constituted by the states for private schools.
Khan further stated that online classes need to be banned and it is ensured that no school strikes off the name of a student due to non-payment of fees.
