The Supreme Court has slammed the MHA for the delay in the completion of the NRC process in Assam, stating that the Ministry doesn't intentionally want the 'NRC process to go on' and the entire effort of the Union Ministry for Home Affairs seems to destroy NRC.
"If you wanted tthe Assam NRC process to go in, the government has 1001 ways to do it. We are very disappointed. The entire effort of MHA seems to destroy NRC. We can even call the Union Home Secretary here," said Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.
The Supreme Court has thus refused to pass an order to suspend the NRC work for two weeks during the General Elections and has also refused to extend the date for publishing the final NRC list beyond July 31.
