Two school teachers’ aspirations for the post of principal in Bihar’s East Champaran district turned into an ugly fight that involved a guillotine choke, collar grabbing, and violent punches recorded in a camera that is making rounds on the internet.
In the clip, two men are seen punching each other at the state education department office in Motihari, with one man who is a teacher, Shivshankar Giri, is thrown to the ground by his competitor Rinki Kumari’s husband.
According to reports, two teachers Shivshankar Giri and Rinki Kumari both are aspirants of the principal’s post at a primary school in Adapur area. They have been for three months fighting and exchanged heated arguments over who holds seniority and is better qualified for the job.
The months of boiling friction between the two contenders erupted into a violent brawl when the education department asked them to submit documents of their education and qualifications within three days.
An argument erupted between the two teachers over who would furnish the documents first to the education department in Motihari.
The argument first started with verbal abuses, but soon it ended in a complete physical fight. Rinki Kumari’s husband was seen holding Shivshankar Giri with anger, attacking him down on the ground and giving him a guillotine choke. In the video, we can see him hitting Mr Giri multiple times with his fist. At the same time, Shivshankar Giri tried to defend himself by giving multiple forceful punches to Rinki Kumari’s husband
The department staff can be seen trying to break up the two to end the fight but were seen a bit amazing and smiling.

Videos of such violent incidents taking place in schools are nothing new. The spectacle of teachers getting into a public brawl has again brought the education system of Bihar into the spotlight.
While in another incident, a teacher of a government school in Tamil Nadu’s Chidambaram was seen severely kicking a Class 12 student and thrashing him using a cane for not attending his lecture. The teacher’s brutality has been surfacing on social media triggering outrage amongst people with demands of action against the teacher.
