In a major development, the Deputy commissioner of District Amritsar, Punjab recently issued a notification, that all the schools coming under Baba Bakala Sahib town will have holidays for two days i.e. 19 August and 20th August 2024 due to Rakhar Puniya fair.

The names of the schools coming under the township are- Government High School Baba Bakala, Dashmesh Public School Baba Bakala, Government Middle School Chapiawali, Government Middle School Umra Nangal, Government Middle School Thathia, Mata Ganga Senior Secondary School Baba Bakala, G.T.C. School Baba Bakala, New Matchary Public School Chapiawali, Saint Soldier Public School Thatthian, Sant Mazza Singh Senior Secondary School.
The tehsil of Amritsar Baba Bakala is also a historical town with a great Sikh significance. The Ninth Guru sahiban of Sikhs Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji had spent 26 years 9 months and 13 days of his life in austerity and established this town.
