Who is Emily Maitlis?

 

Emily Maitlis is a former BBC journalist who interviewed Prince Andrew which sparked a massive uproar globally. Emily Maitlis's current age is 54 and she was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Emily Maitlis's father was Professor Peter Maitlis FRS, Emeritus Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Sheffield, and Marion Maitlis, a psychotherapist.  Emily Maitlis was the lead anchor of the BBC Two news and current affairs programme Newsnight until the end of 2021 and is currently a presenter of the daily podcast The News Agents on LBC Radio.

 

She is known internationally as the interviewer for the November 2019 hour-long BBC interview with Prince Andrew, Duke of York in which she probed the prince's relationship with the American convicted s*x offender Jeffrey Epstein. Hollywood actress Gillian Anderson played the character of Emily Maitlis in Netflix's movie Scoop. 

 

Notably, Emily Maitlis recently broke her silence on the Netflix movie. Emily Maitlis was quoted saying, "I’ve left them very much to do their own thing because I think the last thing they want is me peeking around the edges offering my [views]". She added, "It says it’s based on a fictional account, so I think it goes into different places and it does different things [to the Amazon series],” she explained. However, her spokesperson later clarified that the term 'fictional account' was intended to describe the series as a 'dramatisation'.

An unnamed Jane Doe was allegedly "forced" by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to "have sexual relations with this Prince" and to "give the Prince whatever he demanded".

 

Johanna Sjoberg in her deposition clearly says that when she visited New York along with Epstein, his girlfriend, and other female staff, she met Prince Andrew for the first time.
