The district administration on Tuesday started a probe to find out the causes behind the falling ill of 12 students after consumption of water from a cooler in St Jude Convent School on Monday noon.
The students were discharged from the hospital after the treatment.
On Tuesday morning, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Major Dr Irwin Kaur sent health teams into the school. The teams checked all water sources including taps, water tanks, and coolers, and collected four water samples from separate locations.
Kaur further said that the health teams also took blood samples of a few sick students. She said that 12 students from various classes started complaining of stomach aches and vomiting on Monday noon after drinking water from a cooler in the school. She said that the school management took the students to a nearby private hospital and were discharged after a brief treatment.
SDM said that the water and blood samples had been sent to the Kharar lab and report would be out soon. She said that as the probe was still underway, action would be taken accordingly.
