DSP (Operations) Aman Thakur has been martyred in the ongoing encounter between Indian Armed Forces and one militant is also reported to be killed in Kulgam.
The encounter broke when Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) and Rashtriya rifles (RR) were carrying out a CASO in the Tarigam area of Kulgam.
The security forces faced an open fire while carrying out the CASO and the militants are said to have automatic weapons in which the security forces launched a strong retaliation.
"DSP (Operations) Aman Thakur also received critical injuries during the gunfight," said sources and after hospitalizing the injured DSP, he was declared dead.
The encounter is still underway and further updates are awaited.
Meanwhile, mobile internet has been suspended in Kulgam.
