In the midst of the fast changing situation in Afghanistan, Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty posted a social media plea for world leaders to speak out against women who are sold and enslaved.


Rhea wrote, “While women around the globe fight for pay parity, women in Afghanistan are being sold - They have become the pay. Heartbroken to see the condition of women and minorities in Afghanistan. Urge the global leaders to stand up for this! #smashthepatriachy. Women are human too.”

 After U.S.-led forces withdrew the majority of their remaining soldiers from Afghanistan last month, the Taliban campaign escalated as the Afghan military's defences looked to collapse. The United States Armed Forces are expected to leave Afghanistan on August 31.

Earlier, the Taliban issued a statement assuring inhabitants of Kabul that they had no plans to forcefully enter the Afghan capital and that a peaceful advance towards Kabul will take place.


Karan Tacker, an actor, is also saddened by the situation of women in Afghanistan. He wrote on his Instagram Story, “Shame on humanity...while the world just sits and watches this in silence”. 


Shekhar Kapoor, a film director, has expressed his displeasure with the situation. "Special prayer for the people of Afghanistan . A nation wrecked and destroyed by the colonial ambitions of foreign powers. #Afganistan," Kapoor tweeted.

Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha, Anurag Kashyap, Sanam Puri, and Hansal Mehta are among the other people of the film industry who have spoken out against the issue.


Meanwhile, the producers have revealed that Rhea's forthcoming film "Chehre," starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, will be released in theatres globally on August 27.

Rumy Jafry is directing the mystery thriller, which is produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited.

The publication of "Chehre" was originally planned for July 2020, but was postponed owing to the coronavirus pandemic. It was originally scheduled to end on April 30, but was postponed due to the second wave of COVID-19.

"The crew has put in a lot of effort, and we've always believed that 'Chehre' deserved to be shown in a theatre." We want the film's grandeur to be properly presented, therefore we are excited to finally reach the audience through the cinema screens," Anand pandit said.


Most theatres across the nation have reopened, including those in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. The reopening of theatres has yet to be approved in Maharashtra and a few other states.

Annu Kapoor, Krystle D'Souza, Drithiman Chakroborthy, Raghubir Yadav, and Siddhanth Kapoor also feature in "Chehre."
