Convicted of rape and murder, self-styled godman Gurmeet
Ram Rahim has shown the symptoms of coronavirus in the past few days. After
his health deteriorated he was admitted to PGI Rohtak for the treatment on
Wednesday evening.
However, as of now, there is no official confirmation about his admission to the hospital. It is learnt that he was taken to PGI Rohtak amidst tight security and has been admitted to the VIP ward.
It may be noted here that the Dera sect head was lodged in the Rohtak prison after he was convicted in the 2002 rape and murder case. Earlier, when he showed the symptoms of the contagious disease, prison doctors diagnosed him. Perhaps, his health worsened a few hours later, and to treat him a team of doctors from PGIMS Rohtak was called, which decided to take him to the hospital.
As it was an extremely confidential case, PGIMS was cordoned off and at 6:10 pm Ram Rahim was brought to the medical facility amidst the tight security.
Notably, the ambulance drove to the hospital under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Shamsher Singh Dahiya. To keep up the security, police convoys were ahead and behind the ambulance.

Apparently, since punishment, it is the second time when Ram Rahim has been brought out of jail. Earlier, in January the Dera sect was seen visiting his mother who was admitted to a Gurugram hospital. The video of his visit did round on the internet and the record of his departure was also kept by the government. And this time, his own health deteriorated, and has been taken to PGIMS for treatment.
Panchkula Court on 25 August 2017, convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim in the 2002 rape and murder case. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment and was lodged in the Sunaria jail’s ‘approval cell’. He has also sought parole several times from the court but his request got quashed each time.
