Sensex hits a record high of 39000 on day one of new financial year

The financial year has begun well with advancement in 1685 shares, decline in 918 and no change in 145

The Sensex on Monday touched a record high crossing the 39000 mark while Nifty also did well to close at 11,650 level. This comes on the very first day of the financial year 2020 which is being called as a good sign for the upcoming year.

The rise took place from 38,837 level adding 164.27 points in Sensex while Nifty gained 31.7 points to close on 11,655.6 points.

The financial year has begun well with advancement in 1685 shares, decline in 918 and no change in 145.

The top gainers in the stock market were Wipro, Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, Hindalco Industries and Tata Motors while Zee Entertainment, Eicher Motors, IndusInd Bank, UPL and IOC saw a drop in their shares on day one of the financial year.

The only industries to be on the red were bank and FMCG, otherwise, IT, infra, pharma, auto and other sectoral indices were in gain.
