As per a prominent US media report, Sergey Brin filed for divorce after Nicole Shanahan's alleged extra-marital affairs with Elon Musk came to the fore. The report suggested that Nicole Shanahan is cheating on her husband Brin by being in an affair with billionaire Elon Musk. Musk had remained friends with Sergey Brin when he was married to Nicole and reportedly the extra-marital romance sparked during that tenure. Both Musk and Shanahan's alleged affair dates back to 2021. In face, Musk on his platform X had rubbished the rumours of his affair with Brin's ex-wife.
It is pertinent to mention here that Elon Musk on multiple occasions has expressed that he is quite indebted to the Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin. When Musk's firm Tesla was struggling, Brin and other Google co-founder Larry Page still invested in his company.

Sergey Brin-Nicole Shanahan's divorce
Talking more about Sergey Brin-Nicole Shanahan's divorce, the couple will divide legal and physical custody of their four-year-old daughter. The matters pertaining to spousal support, lawyer fees and division of assets were settled in a confidential arbitration. Reports further state that Nicole Shanahan, who is a lawyer and the founder of non-profit Bia-Echo Foundation, did not contest the divorce but sought that the court award her spousal support.
It is pertinent to mention here that Nicole had also denied her relationship with Elon Musk. In an interview for a US-based magazine, Nicole had said, "Did Elon and I have sex, like it was a moment of passion, and then it was over? No,” she told the magazine adding, "Did we have a romantic relationship? No. We didn’t have an affair."
Notably, before Nicole, Sergey Brin was previously married to 23andMe's cofounder Anne Wojcicki for eight years.
