Kapurthala police have busted a sex racket of foreign girls in Phagwara and arrested 26 accused including 9 foreign and 4 Indian girls. At the same time, 2 separate FIRs have been registered against everyone in Satnampura police station.
In both the FIRs, persons resident in Jalandhar and Amritsar have been described as kingpins. Police have also recovered 9 foreign passports, 29 mobile phones and cash worth about Rs 45 thousand from the possession of the accused.
According to SSP Kapurthala Vatsala Gupta, SP Phagwara Rupinder Kaur Bhatti had received secret information that a large-scale sex racket was going on near the Law Gate near LPU University on Jalandhar-Phagwara Highway. Immediately after the information, various teams of Phagwara Police reached the said area and when the information was confirmed to be correct, the police teams conducted a raid. More than 30 police personnel arrived together in the raid team. Preliminary investigation revealed that the number of people running the sex racket was more than 20. All accused bought to satnampura police station and two separate FIRs were registered.
According to the SSP, a sex racket was being run under the guise of PG, in which foreign girls played an important role. PGs were easily available to foreign nationals as they paid good money. Some have come to India only as students.
During interrogation of most of the people, it has come to light that everyone was doing this work just to earn more money. Apart from this, section 14 of Foreigners Act has also been added against those foreign citizens. Who were violating their visa norms.
During interrogation, it has also been revealed that some of the arrested accused are also brokers. Who used to bring the customers for this sex racket and they used to the girls by showing their photos to the people passing by the law gate. After which they used to deal with them for money. After the money was settled, it was sent to the customers in the girls' PG.
Deepak Behl alias Ashish, resident of Bhawani Nagar, Majitha Road, Amritsar, has been named in an FIR. In the second fir the name of Lavit Parashar alias Lavit Pandit, resident of Bilga, Jalandhar, has been registered. The accused used to take money as per the demand of the customers. SSP Gupta said that further investigation is going on .
