Khalistan supporter and Sikh for Justice (SFJ) terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu has now threatened to assassinate Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. In a recent video statement, he has urged notorious Punjab gangsters to unite for an attack on the CM’s life this Republic Day.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the state police has a zero-tolerance policy against gangsters and strict action is being taken. Pannun has made several threats against the Indian Government. He threatened to attack the Indian Parliament last month. He subsequently raised threats against Air India saying that the people travelling in the airlines’ “lives will be in danger”.
Last week he released a video condemning the Ram Mandir Consecration Ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22. He asked for the airports to be shut down and leveled threats against the Indian Government.
In his video, Pannun has termed the efforts of Punjab Police to improve law and order in Punjab as wrong and futile. Pannun talks about the encounters that took place in the past and is asking the gangsters sitting in the jails of Punjab and abroad to contact him. Not only this, the steps taken to improve the law and order situation in Punjab were futile, according to him.
The government has banned his groug ‘Sikhs for Justice’ as an unlawful association in 2019, citing that it was involved in anti-national activities. Pannun was himself designated as an individual terrorist in 2020. He has been collaborating with Pakistani terrorist agency, ISI to fuel the Khalistani Separatist Movement in Punjab from the US.
