Shahid Kapoor’s sports drama ‘Jersey’ to hit theatres this Diwali, locks Nov 5

Jersey is a Telugu remake of the same name, also stars Mrunal Thakur as the female lead.

Shahid Kapoor’s film Jersey has finally got a big release date, which will hit the theatres on 2021 Diwali, November 5.  The actor took to his Instagram account to share this wonderful news with his fans. Sharing a still from the movie, Shahid wrote, “JERSEY releasing in theatres this DIWALI 5th November 2021. The triumph of the human spirit. A journey I am so very proud of his ones for the TEAM ....”

 

Aman Gill, the producer of the movie while talking about why the makers choose Diwali for the release, he said, “Diwali is the biggest family festival of the year, and is the perfect time to bring Jersey, a family sports drama to audiences, a time when all families can come together to celebrate this journey.”

Jersey also stars Mrunal Thakur in the female lead and Pankaj Kapur, which is directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri and has music by Sachet and Parmpara. The film is a remake of the commercially successful Telugu movie of the same name.

Jersey is a remake of the commercial and critically successful Telugu movie of the same name that stars Nani. The film is a story of a talented but failed cricketer, who in his late 30s decides to return to the cricket field, motivated to represent the Indian cricket team and fulfil his son's wish for a jersey as a gift.

Jersey is presented by Allu Aravind and produced by Aman Gill, Dil Raju and S Naga Vamsi.

The film’s shooting was completed during the coronavirus pandemic, on which Shahid expressed his feeling by stating, "It’s a film wrap on #jersey .... 47 days of shoot during covid. Just unbelievable. I am so proud of the entire team. It’s nothing short of a miracle. I want to thank each and everyone from the unit for coming to set every day, putting themselves at risk and doing what we all love doing.”
