In a tragic incident, a farmer has lost his life at the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu Border amid the ongoing farmer protests. This deceased farmer has been identified as Balwinder Singh, a 72-year-old resident of Moga and the owner of three acres of land. After facing serious health issues on Friday night, Balwinder Singh was admitted to a hospital but unfortunately, he passed away during the treatment.
Balwinder Singh had recently joined the protest at Shambhu Border due to government’s perceived negligence toward farmers. His family and village are grieving over this tragic death. The farmer leaders have described the situation as profoundly painful. Several farmers carried their deceased loved ones back home on their shoulders, intensifying the emotional toll of the protest.
Balwinder Singh was unwell for several days before his passing. When his health worsened, he was initially taken to Rajpura, where his condition was found to be serious. He was then sent to Patiala and to PGI Chandigarh, where he died late at night. His body is currently at PGI for a post-mortem examination.
His death has reignited the farmers’ frustration with the central government. Farmer leaders assert that the government’s policies and continued indifference are having a strong effect on their physical and mental health because of the protest. They have urged the government to urgently address the farmers’ demands to prevent further tragedies.
