Taking cognizance of the news report of Republic Day violence case wherein accused Lakha Sidhana alleged that his cousin Gurdeep Singh was abducted from Patiala and was badly thrashed by Delhi Police, the former cabinet Minister Navjot Sidhu said that it’s shameful that Delhi Police tortured a Punjabi on their own land.
The cricketer-turned-politician, MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu said that entry of Delhi Police in Punjab violates Punjab Government’s authority and questioned with whose connivance was it done?
Meanwhile, Lakha Sidhana, who is reportedly on the run, and is wanted by the Delhi Police in Republic Day Violence case, on Saturday, alleged that his cousin Gurdeep Singh was abducted by Delhi Police from Patiala and was beaten badly.
Reacting to the same, Sidhu in his tweet, said, “Shameful that Delhi Police is allowed to torture Punjabis in our domain and territory. It violates Punjab Govt’s authority - with whose connivance was it done ?? Lessons should be learnt from Mamata Banerjee who put CBI behind bars when they encroached in W.Bengal’s jurisdiction”.
As per information, Lakha Sidhana revealed that the intelligence wing of the Delhi Police, which earlier arrested Deep Sidhu, abducted his cousin from Patiala who had gone there to give his law exam. He said the police repeatedly asked his cousin to tell them his whereabouts and tortured him to the core.
Sidhana reportedly lashed out at the Captain Amarinder-led-Congress government and said it failed to protect the youth of their own domain and territory. He said it was not possible for the Delhi Police to enter Punjab without informing the concerned state police. “In the broad daylight, the Delhi Police took away a youth and the state police had no information, its unbelievable”, he said.
In addition, Lakha Sidhana also informed that his cousin was brought to the Civil Hospital by his supporters, and his condition is stated to be serious as he suffered severe injuries on the back and legs.
