Prime Minister Narendra Modi become teary eyed several times during his farewell speech to the Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad. Shashi Tharoor termed it "artfully crafted performance."
Modi truned emotional multiple times in Rajya Sabha on Monday during his speech for Azad. Tharoor during a discussion on Vice President, Hamid Ansari's book 'By Many a Happy Accident: Recollections of a Life" said the speech of PM was artfully crafted performance on Wednesday.
Tharoor while referring to farmers' leader, Rakesh Tikait said, "It was partly in response to Tikait's tears that he decided he also has tears."
Modi had said that as Chief Ministers of Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir, they both remained in touch. The Prime Minister had said, "Azad was the first person to call me. During that call he could not stop crying" referring to the attack on Gujarati pilgrims.
