Nitish Kumar was on Sunday chosen as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance, which has won 125 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly.
Nitish Kumar later went to the Governor's House in Patna to present a list of 125 newly-elected MLAs to Governor Phagu Chauhan to lay his claim for the formation of the new government.
However, Nitish Kumar's party did not perform well and only secured 43 seats while the RJD became the largest party with 75 seats. Still, the NDA touched the 122 mark and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was chosen as the leader of NDA.
On this, the RJD said it will boycott the oath-taking ceremony of Nitish Kumar as chief minister, claiming the mandate in the elections was "against the NDA" which has been changed by a "fraud".
After this Nitish Kumar started trending on Twitter and many people started criticizing him, Congress leader and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha came in support of Nitish Kumar. In a series of tweet he wrote, "I humbly appeal to all our people, not to strike, criticize &/or ridicule our leader/CM of Bihar, #NitishKumar & for that matter, also the most seasoned, experienced, decent & deserving, leader of the BJP #SushilKumarModi keeping their stature, seniority, experience & of course."
their age & standing in society. It doesn't go down well. Let's all understand, it's the work of some people from behind the curtain/Center who are cleverly playing these michievous, shrewd/manipulative political games. It's being done by many vested interests & also through
tired & retired 'EVM's. We all need to be careful & cautious about it. Let this fragile,'wafer thin' majority Govt be formed. The big question is how & for how long? Rightly, we have knocked the doors of the Election Comm & the courts seeking justice in the just concluded Bihar
election. In the meantime, let's wish them well in true sportsman spirit! Jai Bihar! Jai Hind!"
