Shatrughan Sinha quits BJP; Sonakshi supports father

Bollywood Actor and daughter of Shatrughan Sinha on Friday spoke up in support of her father decision to leave Bharatiya Janata Party and joining the Congress. Support him she said, he should have done it quite early.

"It's his decision (to join the Congress).. Being a party member from the beginning from the time of JP Narayan ji, Atal ji and Advani ji, my father has a lot of respect within the party and I feel the entire group has not been given the respect they deserve. I think he has done it a bit too late, and he should've done it long back”, said Sonakshi at an event.

Shatrughan Sinha announced on Thursday in a tweet that he was "painfully....on the way out of BJP". His announcement came days after Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was declared as the party's candidate from Bihar's Patna Sahib. Patna Sahib has been Sinha constituency for past 10 years.

“Joining will happen soon, we will give you a positive news during Navratri. I will join Congress now”, said Sinha after meeting Rahul Gandhi. Later on, Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil informed via tweet that Sinha is scheduled to join on April 6.

In the past, Shatrughan Sinha had been critical of the Narendra Modi government. His remarks, whether on social media or at public meetings pushed the party to replace their candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Now, Union minister of Law and Justice of India: Ravi Shankar Prasad will be contesting from Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency for BJP.

On Wednesday, Sinha supporting the veteran BJP leader LK Advani lashed out at BJP for not letting Advani contest from his constituency Gandhinagar. LK Advani has been now swapped with Amit Shah for contesting from Gandhinagar for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
