Courtesy of its story, concept, and even the starcast, Shekhar Home has been getting praise on social media from whosoever has watched it. Many are labeling Shekhar Home as the latest series that is 'binge-watch worthy'. Directed by Srijit Mukherji & Rohan Sippy, Shekhar Home is a spy thriller inspired by the book Sherlock Holmes written by Arthur Conan Doyle. It features Kay Kay Menon as Detective Shekhar Home, Ranvir Shorey as Jayvrat Saini, Rasika Dugal, Kirti Kulhari, and more in the leading roles. While the series is fictional, fans are wondering whether Lonpur in West Bengal is real or not. And if real, where is real-life Lonpur in West Bengal shown in Shekhar Home? Is the city of Lonpur in West Bengal is real?
The answer is no. As mentioned above, Shekhar Home is inspired by the book Sherlock Holmes written by Arthur Conan Doyle set up mostly in the fictional town of Lonpur in West Bengal in the early 90s. Although the name of the city might be fictional, the locations shown in Shekhar Home are actually real. For instance, the home showcased in Sehkhar Home is none other than Shantiniketan. Shekhar Home shooting have taken place in West Bengal.
Speaking about the location, Kay Kay Menon was quoted saying, “Each location has its own charm and its own air. So, Shantiniketan was such, that you could feel the presence of Rabindranath Tagore over there. I always go by the rhythm of things. I feel that a place has a rhythm and Shantiniketan has a Tagore rhythm."
"I remember, while shooting for ‘Shekhar Home’ in West Bengal, the temperature was somewhere around 45 degrees Celsius — scorching heat. However, when you are too immersed and enjoy what you are doing, these things get ignored," added Kay Kay Menon.
For the unversed, Shantiniketan is located in Birbhum in West Bengal.
Coming back to the characters of the series, Kay Kay Menon plays Bengali Sherlock Homes and Ranvir Shorey plays the character of Watson. Kay Kay Menon falls in love with actress Rashika Dugal who plays the character Iravati, a Sitar player whose observation skills are just as impeccable as that of Shekhar Home.
Ultimately, Shekhar Home is a 6-episode series (40 minutes each) and can be a perfect watch for the fans who have decided to stay at home for the long weekend that has started from August 15, 2024.
