The investigation of the Shraddha Walker murder case has now reached from the jungle to the pond. During the investigation of more than a week, the police are continuously interrogating the accused Aftab Amin Poonawalla. Trying to collect evidence and clues on the basis of his trial and statements.
Now in this new week, the matter has reached the narco test of accused Aftab. The court had already given permission for his test. In fact, the police want to know whatever story Aftab has narrated to the police whether is true or not.
Earlier on Sunday, the Delhi Police had reached Maidangarhi in South Delhi to clear a pond. In fact, Aftab told during interrogation that he had thrown Shraddha's head in this pond. On the other hand, Delhi Police reached Mehrauli forest for the third consecutive day to investigate, and so far 17 pieces of the dead body have been recovered from there. However, all these have been found in the form of bones only, which Police have sent for forensic investigation.
In the investigation spree of what can be regarded as the most heinous crime in the recent past, the CCTV footage that has been gathered by the police from various angles will indeed turn out to be the most crucial part in presenting shreds of evidence against Aftab.
Days ago a CCTV footage that had gone viral on social media is believed by Police that can be of the time when Aftab was carrying a bag on his shoulders in the wee hours to dispose of it in the jungle.
However, there does not exist any conclusive evidence from police that the 21-second CCTV footage that has gone viral is associated with Aftab that too taking the body parts of Shraddha while taking them to the Mehrauli Jungle.
But, there lie three reasons that direct the sheer possibility of this being the case and can give police a much-needed edge in the police’s investigation:
1. Aftab has continuously tried to cover up things with lies time and again, before getting caught he must have remained engaged in disposing of the body, and this might well be the point that this CCTV visual can be from the time he was on his way to Mehrauli Jungle.
2. Police also find a point in the case through the timing of this video which is nearly around 4 in the morning and the logic behind being outside with a load of baggage on the shoulder doesn’t that too when the person is engaged in the job of call center and is working from home.
This CCTV visual is the talking point in the Shraddha Murder case and police are trying to join every bit and piece involved in order to figure out whether this is associated with Aftab from the time he was out to throw the pieces of the mutilated body part of his girlfriend.
Police are also trying to figure out if this visual is from the time Aftab is going to dispose of the body and then where he has disposed of the body parts because the visuals are from the month of October there is a major chance of finding it.
Many visuals have already been deleted owing to the long duration from the time when the murder was done, police have been trying to figure out all the possibilities surrounding this video because this can be the most crucial part of finding the evidence against Aftab in the dreaded murder case.
The search for the mutilated body parts:
Shraddha murder case: Aftab to be taken for medical check-up, Narco test likely today
Apart from Mehrauli, the police search spree has also reached different jungles as well in the nearby pockets. A dedicated team for the search operation has been deployed on duty who are making rounds in the deep pockets of the jungle with Aftab as well.
After Mehrauli, the investigating team also reached Gurugram and Chhatarpur Jungle to find out whether Aftab came into these regions even to dispose of the body parts.
From all these searches conducted to date, the forensic experts of the Delhi Police have confirmed that the body parts found in these places are of a human, which has been found to be femur bone apart from several other parts including human knee bone.
Moreover, during the detailed investigation, the forensic team found heavy cut marks on these bones joining all these coincidences police believe that these body parts found might belong to Shraddha Walker.
Recreation of the Crime Scene:
Apart from all these special teams accompanied by forensic experts were sent to the Chhatarpur-based home along with Aftab where the murder was committed. With all the required precautionary measures the murder scene was recreated through the inputs provided by Aftab. Police searched the entire corner of the home including cupboards and the almirah to find out if they can locate anything essential associated with the case.
During the visit to the crime scene, the team found a few spots as well which they believe can be blood, however, it can only be confirmed once the associated forensic report comes.
The fridge which was used to store the mutilated body parts of Shraddha was washed several times by Aftab using chemicals to remove all possible clues he can to avert the arrest but to no avail.
In the line of investigation, police will also search the drainage system of the house where the murder took place, which will be done on Aftab’s statement to the police where he said that he used to turn the shower and the tap on while cutting Shraddha’s body parts so that the blood, gets washed away and police also believe that they can find a few body parts through this as well where the home’s drainage meets the larger drain.
The Delhi Police on advice from the forensic team has also taken a few clothes including the bedsheets from his home because Aftab started disposing of the body parts 20 days later he murdered Shraddha. In that case, it is the sheer possibility that they can find a clue to it.
The forensic team is trying to corroborate Aftab’s statement of murdering Shraddha on the 18th of May which he confessed during the Police’s extensive questioning.
However, the forensic team believes that we can figure this out easily when the murder took place after we conduct the search of the drains. Based on the media reports, Aftab said to Police that he started cutting Shraddha’s body parts two days later that is on the 19th and 20th of May.
