On Thursday, on the occasion of World Elephant Day, Shruti Hassan and Dia Mirza, who are quite vocal about the environment and wildlife, have shared inspiring posts to motivate people to save the indigenous animal of India – the Elephant for maintaining the ecological balance in rainforests.

Shruti Hassan, who has recently joined World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), as India Ambassador, has announced a unique art exhibition by WWF India. She tweeted, “Make way for Little Trunkets! I am pleased to announce a unique art exhibition by @WWFIndia dedicated to playful pachyderms. This #WorldElephantDay, let’s together aim to support the conservation of the mighty Asian elephant.”
Dia Mirza penned a lengthy note on Instagram and explained that how human-elephant conflict has affected the live elephants. Dia’s post read, “I will never forget the first time I met these beautiful rescued elephant calves. They were so playful and naughty! Kept opening my shoelaces with their trunks the time spent with them had me smiling and bursting with love and joy.
Let’s celebrate these incredible sentient beings today and every day on this #WorldElephantDay pledge your support to protect and to save our #Elephants.
Remember every being we share this planet with must be protected to secure the balance of our fragile ecological system that in turn provides us, humans, with all that we need to survive. Clean Air, water, food, peace and health.

Every year, World Elephant Day is celebrated on August 12 to draw attention towards the protection and conservation of elephants. In the year 1992, the government of India launched Project Elephant to protect elephants and their habitats. The funds for the project are contributed by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, across the country.
