29th May 2024 marks the death anniversary of legendary singer Sidhu Moose Wala. It has been 2 years since the Punjabi singer was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district. Sidhu Moose Wala’s father shared a post on Instagram remembering his son and wrote, “Two years on, justice remains a fading hope. Justice for Sidhu Moose Wala.” Sidhu Moose Wala’s mother also penned a heart-wrenching note for her beloved son. She stated that after a lot of prayers Shubhdeep was born into their family however, people jealous of him shot him and took her son away. She added that this day will be written in black letters in history. I am grateful that you have come into our lives again in the form of your younger brother.
Last year, Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents organized a grand event on the death anniversary of their son. Hundreds of Sidhu Moose Wala’s fans and loved ones gathered to pay tribute to Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. Last year, even a candle march was conducted in Mohali for the singer. However, this year, the Punjabi singer’s parents have announced not to carry out a huge event. Sidhu Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh stated that a low-key event will be organized this year. Telling about the reason, he said that Lok Sabha Elections are on the cards and due to increasing temperature this decision has been taken. Only close friends and relatives will be present in Moosa village to pay tribute to the legendary Punjabi singer. Balkaur Singh said, “There will be a very simple program tomorrow because there are elections and temperatures are very high. We have told people outside to not come here, only the people of the village and family are coming. The public has been told to not come...Only the religious rituals will be performed.”
Two years after Sidhu Moosewala passed away, his family is still seeking justice from the police authorities and government. His parents allege that only their son’s shooters have been arrested, however, the real culprits are still roaming freely. On Sidhu Moose Wala’s death anniversary, the locals of his village are paying tribute to their favourite singer. They are offering and selling T-shirts, photographs, mugs with singer’s photos, etc to people.
