A new posthumous track by late Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala, titled ‘Lock' has been released today. Known for his fearless and controversial song lyrics, Moosewala continues to captivate fans globally, even after his untimely death on May 29, 2022. 

The track ‘Lock,’ explores themes of resilience and perseverance, with lyrics that reflect the challenges faced when standing firm in one’s beliefs. The song adds to a series of posthumous releases, including notable tracks like SLY, Never Fold, Vaar, Mera Na, Chorni, Watchout, and Drippy, all of which have kept his artistic zealot alive. 

Sidhu Moosewala gained widespread attention for making controversial bold statements targeting the state through his song lyrics. His song SYL for instance, focused on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal dispute. The song gaslighted the controversy with the name Balwinder Jatana being mentioned in the song lyrics. Balwinder Singh Jatana was a separatist, in 1991 he was accused of killing engineers who were operational at the Satluj Yamuna link. Where Sidhu in his song indirectly encouraged the youth to become one like Jattana, and this got the song banned. 

Today, January 23, Sidhu’s new song ‘Lock’ is released, like his previous songs here also Sidhu’s song lyrics make bold representations and fearlessness of the Punjabi community. Sidhu had become popular among the youth for bringing the Punjabi language with a blend of hip hop for greater acceptability and popularity of the language. In the song ‘Lock’ also Sidhu upheld the Punjab boli, in his way.
