Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi arrested in a human trafficking case, has been kept in the same barrack where former PPCC Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu has been lodged. Sidhu and Daler Mehndi are old friends, they have seen together in many shows.
In the jail, Daler Mehndi has been given the job of an accountant, whereas Sidhu is doing the job of a clerk. Daler Mehndi will also work from the barrack. Jail staff will give him a daily register.
Shamsher Mehndi, Daler Mehndi's older brother, was accused of sending people abroad illegally on September 19, 2003, and an FIR was subsequently filed in the case.
Daler Mehndi's name also came up in this case during the investigation. A lawsuit was filed against him in 2003, and 15 years later, in 2018, the lower court sentenced him to two years in prison. The sessions court has now confirmed the lower court's decision.

Navjot Singh Sidhu is serving a one-year jail term in the 34-year-old road rage case. Sidhu was earlier let off in this case only after paying a fine. But later the deceased’s family filed a review petition against it, in which the Supreme Court changed the decision and sentenced Sidhu to one year of rigorous imprisonment. Since then he is lodged in Patiala Jail.
