Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla on Wednesday has been given the ‘Y’ security after he was threatened over Covishield supplies.
The security was approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs after the detailed threat assessment. This security cover will be provided by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The decision, however, has come after the Director, Government and Regulatory Affairs at Serum Institute of India (SII), Prakash Kumar Singh had written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on April 16 requesting security for CEO Poonawalla.
