Team India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad on Tuesday was announced after BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar attended the selection meeting in an Ahmedabad hotel. While 15 players were named in the main Team India squad, four players were named as reserves. Rohit Sharma will captain Team India in T20 World Cup 2024 and Hardik Pandya will resume his services for the Men In Blue as Vice-Captain. Based on IPL 2024 performances, Shivam Dubey, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, and Rishabh Pant were put in the main squad. However, what shocked everyone when BCCI left Rinku Singh from the main squad and kept him as a reserve player. Rinku Singh who is playing for KKR in IPL 2024 could not make his way into the top 15 list of players who will be regarded as Team India's main squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. In case of an injury, the reserve player can be added to the top 15 squad. As a result, fans on X slammed the BCCI and pointed out Rinku Singh's stats. Below is what fans said on Rinku Singh's omission-
A user wrote, "Despite scoring 356 runs at an average of 89 and strike rate of 176.24 in T20Is for India, Rinku Singh does not find a place in the ICC World T20 2024 Squad. He is in the reserves list only."
Another user wrote, "Rinku Singh scored 356 runs at an average of 89 and strike rate of 176.24 for India in T20Is, proved himself every time and yet he didn't find a place in the WT20 squad, it's so unfair for him!!! Simply not done."
One more user wrote, "Sorry, Rinku Singh, it's India. Here a 38yo cricketer who is trash in the T20 World Cup gets the chance to bottle one more trophy, and a 25yo young clutch player gets dropped."
"
Speechless! Angry! Sad! How on earth you can drop Rinku Singh? He sealed his place even before the IPL began. When are we going to get rid of favouritism and politics in Indian cricket," wrote another user.
