In a shocking development, one person died, and at least 30 were left seriously injured after Singapore Airlines was hit by severe turbulence mid-air. The Singapore Airlines Boeing flight was hit by turbulence on Tuesday and the flight nosedived from 37,000 feet to 31,000 feet within just five minutes. The Boeing 777-300ER jet was going to Singapore from London when it was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok at 3:45 p.m. local time. The flight was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew at the time.
The Singapore Airlines issued a statement which reads, "Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased." Notably, it is not known whether the passenger or the cabin crew died in the Boeing flight turbulence. As per local media reports, roughly 11 hours into the flight, FlightRadar24 tracking data showed the Boeing jet sharply dropping from an altitude of about 37,000 feet to 31,000 feet within just five minutes as it flew over the Andaman Sea.
Now, the Singapore Airlines turbulence video has been shared on social media. The video showcased the aftermath of the incident.
Reacting to the Boeing turbulence video, a user wrote, "Hope it's not the Boeing's fault, if yes, this might just be the final nail in the coffin ..."
Another user wrote, "Flying feels a lot like eating fast food these days. You know both are dangerous because of all the insiders from the industries who've warned about the risks, yet you still find yourself drawn to them."
One more user wrote, "Keep those seatbelts fastened when flying through turbulence. Doesn't sound like any part of the aircraft malfunctioned."
The person who died in the Boeing turbulence has been identified as a British national. A 73-year-old British man travelling in premium economy with his wife died from a possible heart attack as the plane plummeted in stormy skies.
