Renowned singer Master Saleem finds himself in a legal predicament as a case related to his controversial statements has landed in a Jalandhar court.
A complaint filed against Master Saleem at the Cantt police station in Jalandhar has raised questions about the Station House Officer (SHO) for not registering the case.
Gaurav, a resident of the city, has approached the court under section 156 (3) of the CrPC, seeking directions to the SHO to register an FIR in response to his complaint.
Magistrate Miss Arpana accepted Gaurav's plea and directed the Cantt police station's SHO to submit a report and response regarding the complaint that had reached him.
Referring to the Supreme Court's decision, Gaurav highlighted in his appeal that the SHO had failed to register a case against Master Saleem despite the complaint filed against the singer.
Master Saleem had used objectionable language during a performance at the Baba Murad Shah Mela, an event associated with the Shahi Abdullah versus the Union of India case, as per the apex court's ruling last year on October 21.
In his complaint, Gaurav urged the court to direct the Cantt police station to register a case against Master Saleem for his alleged remarks. Despite Master Saleem offering apologies for his comments, Gaurav and others have not let the matter rest.
