Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia today mocked his Punjab counterpart Pargat Singh for allegedly running away after he was challenged over the state's education model.
Mr Sisodia who is also the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi has challenged Pargat Singh for a debate on the education system of the national capital and Punjab. After accepting the challenge
Pargat Singh was expected to release the list of 250 government schools of Punjab which has not been done yet.
On Monday, the Delhi minister claimed that he did not receive the list of 250 government schools from his Punjab counterpart. Sisodia released a list of 250 government schools in Delhi
on Sunday.
Taking a dig at his Punjab counterpart, Sisodia said that Singh made tall claims about the work done in Punjab schools but backed down when challenged. “I requested that a list
of 250 Punjab schools be released by Sunday evening. It's been twenty-four hours since then. We have yet to receive a reply."
“It appears that they are running away. I request that Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and the education minister provide us with a list of 250 schools by this evening (Monday).
The people of Punjab have a right to know about the work that the Punjab government has done in schools," Sisodia stated.
Sisodia requested that Channi inform the public about the work being done in Punjabi schools in terms of results, teacher training, and infrastructure. "I'm hoping Channi will
not leave. He'll tell us about what's been done in Punjab."
Pargat Singh had said that he will release the list in a day or two on Sunday.
It's worth noting that Pargat Singh not only accepted Sisodia's challenge, but himself increased the task to 250 schools. In a series of tweets, the education minister said, “I welcome the Hon. edu Minister of Delhi Sh. @msisodia's suggestion to compare Punjab govt schools with Delhi Schools. However, we will take 250 schools each of Punjab and Delhi instead of 10 schools. #EducationRevolutionInPunjab”.
