India Oxenberg, a film producer, felt she was joining a "sisterhood" when Smallville actress Allison Mack persuaded her to join a "secret sorority" within the now-infamous sex cult NXIVM.

She eventually discovered that Mack was grooming India to be a sexual partner for the cult's leader, Keith Raniere, who is currently serving a 120-year jail sentence for his crimes.

India and her mother, Dynasty actress Catherine Oxenberg, have been vocal about the horrors that
NXIVM victims have faced, but following Mack's sentencing on Wednesday — in which a judge sentenced her to three years in prison and a $20,000 fine — the mother and daughter tell Jeremy Parsons of PEOPLE (the TV Show!) that they are ready to move on.

"I think having true love and real support in your life, like I have," India adds, "gives you the opportunity to have forgiveness and closure because you know what really matters."

Mack offered a public apology to everyone who was injured by her conduct prior to her punishment, calling her commitment to NXIVM her "greatest mistake and regret.”

Mack also made personal apologies to some of India's victims, India tells one of the tv show.

"I was surprised to receive a letter from her, and the tone felt honest and sad, as well as... like she has seen the truth of who Keith Raniere is," India adds. "Knowing that everything my mother and I have done and said has had an effect on her was validating in and of itself."

"I don't see why I must not accept her apologies," she says. "It doesn't cover for all that has occurred to myself and her other victims, but it does give me more peace moving forward."

Catherine says she trusts the judge's decision on Mack's three-year prison sentence, which is significantly less than the federal sentencing guidelines of 14 to 17 1/2 years.

Catherine comments, "He is tremendously wise, and if this is the penalty he has chosen for Allison, it is justice." "He believes this woman is sincere and remorseful, and he wants to give her another chance." And I admire him."

"I believe the world is India's oyster," Catherine says. "She has emerged stronger, she has found her voice, she is passionately involved in activism and all of that.”
