Social Networking: Advertising ban on Twitter, Periscope, Pinterest by Trukey

Information and Communication Technologies of Turkey has imposed an advertising ban on Twitter, Periscope and Pinterest under the recently enacted Social Media law. The decisions were published in the official gazette of the country on Tuesday.

The new social media law allows the authorities in Turkey to remove content form social networking platforms. Earlier they used to block the access. Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, has tightened its grip over mainstream media  as per several reports.

Facebook, Twitter and YouTube had faced a ban on the pretext of not following the guidelines. As per the law, if a company doesn't follow the guidelines, their bandwidth will be slashed by 90%.
