Over the past few months Sonu Sood has come out as a saviour of thousands of migrant labourers, stuck in various parts of the country and helped them reach their homes. Before Ganesh Utsav also he had also sent migrant workers from the city to their villages in remote areas of Maharashtra and Konkan, so that they could be with their families during the festival. Yet another important issue has caught his attention. Currently, most educational institutions have started online classes, there are a large number of underprivileged students, who don’t have the money to pay their fees or any resources to attend online classes.
Understanding their predicament, Sonu has initiated a scholarship programme in his late mother’s name, which will provide support to bright, underprivileged students for higher education. He shares, “During the past few months, I have seen how the underprivileged struggled to pay for their children’s education. While some did not have phones to attend online classes, others did not have money to pay the fees. So, I have tied up with universities across the country to offer scholarships under the name of my mother, Professor Saroj Sood. She used to teach in Moga (Punjab), free of cost. She had told me to take her work ahead, and I feel that this is the right time.”

The scholarship will be accessible for courses like Medicine, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Fashion, Journalism and Business Studies, among others. “Students coming from families whose annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh can apply for this scholarship. The only condition is that their academic record should be good. All their expenses — course fees, hostel accommodation and food — everything will be taken care of by us.”, Sonu says.

Sharing the poster on social media, Sonu wrote, “Our future will determine our ability and hard work! Where we are from, our economic situation has nothing to do with it. One of my efforts in this direction - full scholarship for post-school education - so that you can go ahead and contribute to the country's progress. email scholarships@sonusood.me”
The poster which shows Sood surrounded by a plethora of courses covered under the scholarship scheme had a math error, which was pointed out by netizens on Twitter.
The mistake in question is “42÷6= 8” which is mentioned at the top left corner. The correct answer is “7”.
