Jalandhar, February 10- The Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Wednesday directed the Food, Civil and Supply department to create awareness about 'One Nation-One Ration Card' scheme among the migrants so that they can take benefit of this ambitious program.
Presiding over a meeting, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that 'One Nation-One Ration Card scheme would help the people especially migrants to take subsidized food grain from any fair price shop (ration depots) here by registering with the food, civil and supply department.
He disclosed if the migrant's family has a ration card at his native state, he or she can take subsidized food grain including wheat and Daal from ration depots here also by giving his Aadhar card number, mobile number and present address for the registration.
Thori informed that the family of migrants would continue to get the ration from his parent state. He said that this would be done through the National Portability Scheme of Ration Card.
Deputy Commissioner told for registration, any migrant can contact District Food and Supply Officer Ashok Kumar (78883-59581), Assistant Food and Supply Officers Raj Kumar (98886-04432) and Vinit Kumar (98888-63164).
He also told the department to hold awareness camps for the maximum enrollment of the migrants under the scheme.
