Sputnik Light single-dose vaccine is set to get a launch from September giving a crucial boost to India's vaccination drive against the Coronavirus infection. Sputnik Light is a locally manufactured vaccine. Panacea Biotec has submitted a plea to the country's drug regulator DGCI, seeking emergency use authorisation.
Reports suggest that the Sputnik Light will be available in limited quantities in the initial time, expected to be given for Rs 750. Panacea Biotec has associated with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) to inaugurate the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in India.
The RDIF in partnership with Dr Reddy's is producing the vaccine, with a deal to manufacture around 100 million doses per year of Sputnik V.

The Russian vaccine was given emergency approval in the country on April 12 and it was open for the masses in May. The first shot was administered in Hyderabad's Apollo hospital.
Along with India, about 65 nations have ordered Sputnik V vaccines.
The vaccine has shown to be 97.6% effective during clinical trials against the virus.
Sputnik Light vaccine, as per RDIF, is effective when given in combination with other vaccines; several countries have proven this in their studies.

Sputnik Light is the first component (recombinant human adenovirus serotype number 26 (rAd26)) of Sputnik V. The vaccine was the first registered vaccine against the Covid disease in the world. Having an efficacy level of about 80%, said to be much higher than any of the two-dose vaccines available.
The RDIF has claimed that Sputnik Light has proven to be effective against all the new variants of Covid and further the vaccines e also congenial with standard vaccine storage and logistics requirements.
