After SRH won an important toss and chose to bowl. KKR have mounted a huge total of 188 batting first. Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi scored half-centuries that got them to a good total of 188.
At the halfway stage Rahul Tripathi told "The surface was clinging to itself just a smidgeon. Their spinners were performing admirably. Since the oddball is spinning and occasionally skidding, I believe the surface is a little tricky. I believe we've come up with a fantastic number. Today's job was given to me; all I had to do was go out and express myself. We'll be able to protect it if we use the wicket a lot and throw in some cutters. It was impossible to score unless you were in the right places. We were trying to make the most of whatever loose ball we came across. Let's see how we do in our first game (about the dew). And if the dew arrives, we'll have a fantastic number."
So, while 187 might seem to be a lot in a normal world, SRH would be pleased with how they pulled this back. With Rana and Tripathi in fine form at the 15th over level and the firepower that Russell, Karthik, and Morgan expected, 200 appeared to be a distinct possibility. And it all came down to a 16-run final over that got them to 187. Rashid Khan, Nabi, and Natarajan have done a fantastic job pulling this back for Hyderabad. This is a fantastic surface; the dew will undoubtedly make it difficult, but there is something in it for the spinners in terms of grip. And the Kolkata Knight Riders have three of them.
SRH has stabilized their innings after the fall of two early wickets. They have been going well at the halfway stage with Bairstow and Manish Pandey going well. It will be a very interesting finish, KKR is in need of some quick wickets.
