Rani and her director husband Aditya Chopra had their first child, Adira, in 2015, a year after their secret wedding.
Rani said on BFFs With Vogue why she and her husband don't want Adira's photos all over social media. "I want Adira to have a normal childhood." Otherwise, you would receive unwelcome and unjustified attention while having accomplished nothing in life. I want Adira to be treated the same as the other students at school. "I don't want Aditya to be photographed all the time," she explained.
On Twitter in 2016, Rani posted Adira's first photo along with a sweet message, “I love my baby Adira... Can’t live or breathe without her.. My life has changed but for the better... But having a baby is so scary because you suddenly stop living for yourself, you live for your child as she has given birth to you...A mother!” she wrote.
Prior to the release of Bunty Aur Babli 2, Yash Raj Films released a video on their YouTube account last month. Rani discussed Adira's response to the film throughout the chat. “What’s giving me abundant joy is that Bunty Aur Babli 2 is the first film of mine that Adira has seen and thoroughly loved! Nothing can beat this moment for me and my career. It was amazing to see her reaction to the film and what I have done on screen. She was laughing and rolling watching the mad comedy that we have done. I’m so happy that I could make her laugh. It fills my heart with so much happiness. She had the best time and it means the world for me.”
