In a heart-wrenching incident that took place in Meerut, a 19-year-old Dalit woman and her father were shot dead allegedly by a youth and his friends. The incident took place in Meerut's TP Nagar on Saturday night. As per reports, the girl was shot just two days before her marriage. The woman's brother has been also injured while he was filming the incident. The victims have been identified as Anchal and her father Rajkumar.
As per reports, SP (city) Akhilesh Narayan Singh, "Saagar and his aides arrived at the victims' house around midnight and began firing at the family members. Three family members, including Aanchal and two others, came in the direct line of fire as other members and relatives ran for cover." One bullet hit Aanchal, who died on the spot, while another hit her father who was rushed to the hospital. He died during treatment. The girl's brother also sustained bullet injury and is being treated. His condition is stable."
In his written complaint to police, Aman, elder brother of deceased Aanchal said," Saagar wanted to marry my sister but she was not interested. On the night of 27, Saagar, Ankit, Rohit and two other on motorcycles stormed into our premises and begun putting unnecessary pressure on us for marriage and later opened fire."
Based on a complaint by the brother of the deceased, an FIR under Sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has been registered against five identified accused, including Saagar and his mother Rekha, and three unidentified suspects. While Saagar is at-large, police claim to have arrested two of his aides. "Two suspects-Neeraj and Prince-have been arrested. Efforts are being made to arrest Saagar who is still at-large," said the SP (city).
