Punjab Police aspirants, who appeared in the written examination around two months ago, held a protest at Jalandhar's BSF chowk blocking traffic for hours on Thursday. The protestors allege a big scam in the recruitment process.
Owing to the protest staged by aspirants, roads to Jalandhar bus stand, PAP and Rama Mandi were packed with vehicles. Police have been deployed at the scene of protest.
From buses to vehicles carrying students were stranded due to heavy traffic. According to sources, a school bus carrying students to the examination hall was also stranded. They could not
take the exam owing to the demonstration.
According to sources, an ambulance was also stranded in the jam which was allowed to pass by the protestors after several requests.
As the traffic situation in the area worsened, sources said a heated argument erupted between protestors and those stuck in traffic.
People were complaining about the difficulties they were experiencing as a result of the unannounced demonstration. "If the protestors have issues, they should protest at administrative
offices rather than blocking the highways," said stranded commuters.

Meanwhile, police claim they are trying to convince protestors to clear the road. A meeting between protesting aspirants and DC has been scheduled. "We are diverting traffic to deal
with this situation," said a police official.
Aspirants claimed that fraud was being committed during the recruitment process, forcing them to stage protests. They voiced concerns about the candidates who had been shortlisted for the
next step of the hiring process.
They claim that the names of candidates who scored lower than them in the first round of the recruitment procedure had been shortlisted for the second round. Physical measurement tests and physical screening tests are required in the second phase of the process.
