A shocking news just came out of Ohio, USA where a woman was charged more than $1,000 (Rs 82,900) for a Subway sandwich. She posted the bill of the transaction which is becoming increasingly viral on social media. Letitia Bishop ordered three sandwiches at a Subway of Thornton gas station in Columbus, Ohio on January 5.
A whopping $1,021.50 was charged to Bishop's debit card for the order - which included $1,010 (Rs 83,700) for the sandwich. She realised the enormity of the bill only after leaving the joint. When she went back to the outlet, she was told to contact Subway's corporate office. She also tried contacting her bank but to no avail. Bishop also returned to the Subway location hoping to solve her problem. However, she found that outlet was closed. According to Subway's website, the Thornton Oil Outlet was temporarily shut.
Bishop filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Connecticut. According to reports, Subway contacted her last weekend for a refund. She was put in touch with the regional manager of Thornton, who said there was an online portal for refunds. However, the manager had never used the portal and instead offered her wads of cash at the gas station. Bishop was asked to sign a receipt for the refund. However, not all her problems were solved. When she went to the bank to deposit the money, the funds were frozen, which meant she couldn't immediately use to pay any outstanding bills. However, the funds were set to be cleared on Monday afternoon.
