In a shocking development, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at the entrance of the Golden Temple. Sukhbir Badal was serving as a Sevadar guard at the entrance of the Golden Temple when a man tried to shoot him. Badal has been given 'religious punishment' by the Akal Takht under which he has to serve as a Sevadar in Sri Harmandir Sahib, including acting as a gate security guard and cleaning utensils and shoes.
Sukhbir Badal Assassination Video has come to the fore and is now spreading like wildfire on social media. In the video, a man can be seen firing a gun pointing at the SAD leader. Fortunately, a man present nearby saw the assassin taking out his gun and aiming at Sukhbir Badal. The man came in between and pushed the shooter's hand in the air saving Sukhbir Badal from the murder attempt.
Then the security personnel standing there caught the person and snatched the pistol. The security personnel surrounded Sukhbir Badal. After the incident, security has been increased outside the Golden Temple. The police have taken the person who fired the shot into custody. The person has been identified as Narain Singh Chaura, a resident of Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur. He is a member of Dal Khalsa.
On December 2, Sri Akal Takht Sahib sentenced Sukhbir Badal and other cabinet members during the Shiromani Akali Dal government for religious misconduct in 5 cases, including pardoning Ram Rahim. In the same case, today, Sukhbir Badal was serving his sentence holding a spear outside the Golden Temple.
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema while talking to the media said, "This is a big conspiracy to push Punjab back into the fire... A man, Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was serving as 'sewadar' at the entrance of the temple was shot at. I thank God for saving his life... I want to ask (CM) Bhagwant Mann what has he done to the state."
