In a major development, Sky Digit producer Pushpinder Singh Dhaliwal, also known as Pinky Dhaliwal, was released from Police custody on Tuesday, days after getting arrested. Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma had accused Pinky of exploitation, non-payment of dues, and coercion. On Tuesday, there was a hearing in the High Court regarding this matter, in which the judicial body gave a big relief to Pinky Dhaliwal and released him. The High Court has ordered the release of music producer Pushpinder Dhaliwal alias Pinky Dhaliwal from police custody. During the hearing, the High Court said that Dhaliwal's arrest in this way was illegal.

Dhaliwal, accused of fraud, had knocked on the door of Punjab and Haryana High Court. He had filed a Habeas Corpus petition in the High Court. It is noteworthy that in her complaint to Mohali District Police Chief Deepak Pareek, Sunanda Sharma has made serious allegations against Dhaliwal of economic exploitation, fraud, forcing signatures on documents, threatening to defame and illegal occupation of private property, after which the police of Mataur police station has registered a case under sections 406, 420, 465, 467, 468, 341, 500, 506 of IPC. 

Legal battle between Sunanda Sharma and Pinky Dhaliwal

Sunanda Sharma has been tied to Dhaliwal’s company for several years without receiving her rightful payments. She was allegedly kept under pressure and bonded to the company, preventing her from pursuing independent opportunities. Sharma’s emotional social media post on Saturday shed light on the ordeal, prompting immediate action from the authorities. 

Raj Lali Gill,  Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson, while addressing the media, stated, “Pinky Dhaliwal has exploited Sunanda Sharma for years by withholding her payments, keeping her in bondage, and using threats to suppress her. She e will ensure justice is served.”

Following the intervention of the Punjab Women’s Commission, an FIR was registered against Pinky Dhaliwal, leading to his arrest. The authorities has confirmed that investigations are ongoing and more details will emerge as the case progresses.
