The Congress on Wednesday removed Sunil Jakhar from party positions for “anti-party activities” and suspended five Meghalaya lawmakers for backing the state’s National People’s Party-led government. Now, there are rumours that Jakhar might join BJP.
Former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar has talked about having some patience on whether he will join the BJP. Jakhar even said that now the time has gone to meet Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. His self-esteem was hurt by sending the notice.
Sunil Jakhar said that I have kept my political life and personal relationships separate. I have good personal relations with other political opponents including PM Narendra Modi. Jakhar said that I have always fought for principles and will continue to do so.
Jakhar said that I had written a letter warning the Congress high command against those who threatened, this is not indiscipline. Small minded leaders sitting in high positions were breaking the secular ideology of Congress, about which the Congress had been alerted.

It may be recalled that Sunil Jakhar was accused of making objectionable remarks about former CM Charanjit Channi. Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary had complained about this. Jakhar, on the other hand, is upset that the Congress high command should have spoken to him earlier. Instead, a direct notice was issued to him.
Moreover, Jakhar has already stepped away from Congress. He did not even contest the elections after Navjot Singh Sidhu was announced as the PPCC Chief.
