Suresh Kumar, Chief Principal Secretary to Punjab CM on Tuesday has inaugurated development projects for Jalandhar Cantt. Notably, these development projects are worth Rs 161 crore. Upon reaching Jalandhar, Mr. Suresh was welcomed by MLA Pargat Singh and Mayor Jagdish Raja.
Among the local-body workers, senior official Ajay Sinha and PMIDC CEO Ajay Kumar were also present.
Under development works, new sewerage in 11 villages of Jalandhar Cantt and separate treatment plants for these villages will be constructed. An underground drain from Urban Estate to Jamsher, to widen 66 feet road from Urban Estate to Nakodar Road along with the construction of a road from Cool Road to Urban Estate has been included in these projects. The work on the aforementioned projects has kick-started today.

It is significant to mention here, the development projects are of utmost importance for the growth of Jalandhar. Also, the widening of 66 feet road would boost the real estate business and might observe a decline in road accidents.
Jalandhar Cantt area has now added to the Municipal Corporations' limit and the work for the installation of a new sewerage system for eleven villages has already commenced from Tuesday. The new sewerage system will be beneficial for the people residing in nearby villages and colonies of Cantt. Notably, the new system will not be linked to the prevailing sewerage system of the city thus, a separate treatment plant of 10 MLD will be set up.
